"You Inc." - The Power of Personal Branding on Career Success by Leanne Bostick and Marcia Custodio with Modis

Abstract

Knowing what employers look for and expect in how one presents their experience is essential in career progression. These “presentations” are what is known as your personal brand, which these days goes beyond just your resume and includes your social media, professional networks, and organizations.

“Branding is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.” (Jeff Bezos, CEO and Founder of Amazon.com)

This presentation will go over key personal branding elements as well as strategies on how to develop and improve them. We will also share research data that discusses how personal branding and self-presentation is more important now than ever. Whether it’s a promotion, moving to a new company, transitioning from the military, surviving a layoff or career reskilling/upskilling; letting others know what you do and how you do it will not only lead to career progression but more importantly career satisfaction.

We will conclude with a recap of what Cyber Security hiring trends transpired in 2020 – “Hiring in a time of Covid-19” as well as what is forecasted for 2021.

Please note this will qualify as a Group B CPE.

Speaker's Biography.

Marcia Custodio is a Sr. Solutions Consultant with Modis right here in the mighty city of San Antonio. She started her career in the IT Staffing industry back in 1998 immediately after graduating with a Bachelor’s in Marketing from Texas A&M University. Her career path afforded her the opportunity to live and work in Phoenix, Miami and even New Zealand! In 2007, she made a decision to return home to San Antonio where she quickly joined the newly formed Modis team. Over the past 13+ years with Modis she has earned top accolades in her sales role and has achieved being in the Top 10% companywide for multiple years. Collectively she brings over 22 years of sales & marketing experience most of which has been within the IT sector.

Leanne Bostick is a Solutions Consultant with Modis in San Antonio. She started her career in the U.S Army as a Network Specialist in 2009, she built and monitored network communication for the Active Army for 7 years and then completed an additional 3 years with the Army Reserves. After leaving the Army she decided to become a recruiter and account manager assisting managers and consultants looking for the next best fit for them. Her passion for IT and learning led her to enrolling at UTSA as a Cyber Security student and continues to seek certifications and knowledge in the industry.
